Closing or pausing your account
You can close your Betiro account or request a temporary pause at any time. This page explains the different options, the steps to follow and where to get help if gambling becomes a problem.

The three options on offer
1. Time-out (24 hours to 6 weeks) — handy if you want a genuine break. Your account is locked for the length you choose: no log-in, no deposit, no stakes possible. The time-out is automatic and doesn't need any justification.
2. Permanent account closure — your account is closed for good. Your data is kept for the legally required period and then deleted. You can only open a new account later if you're not signed up to GamStop.
3. GamStop self-exclusion — the strongest protection. Sign up to GamStop, the UK-wide self-exclusion scheme run independently of operators. Every Gambling Commission-licensed site will refuse you for the period of your exclusion (minimum 6 months, with 1 year and 5 year options). It's an official process strongly recommended if you feel your gambling is getting away from you.
Note: here we're talking about GamStop in the UK context, the self-exclusion scheme covering UKGC-licensed sites. Schemes from other countries (such as OASIS in Germany, CRUKS in the Netherlands or the ADM register in Italy) don't apply in the UK.
How to close your Betiro account
Step by step
- Log in to your Betiro account.
- Go to "My account" → "Responsible gambling".
- Choose the option that suits you: time-out, permanent closure or GamStop self-exclusion.
- If you pick GamStop, follow the official sign-up process at gamstop.co.uk.
- Confirm your request. You'll get a confirmation email.
- If your account has a balance, request a withdrawal before closing. Support can help if needed.
You can also contact support to set up any of these options. Any closure request linked to a gambling concern is handled as a priority and treated in confidence.
Signing up to GamStop
GamStop sign-up is done online at gamstop.co.uk. The process is free, confidential and takes only a few minutes. Once registered, you can no longer play at any UKGC-licensed operator for the period you've chosen (minimum 6 months). The exclusion can only end once the minimum period is over and you actively request it.
During GamStop self-exclusion you stop receiving gambling-related marketing from UKGC-licensed operators. You can check your status with GamStop at any time.
